It has been wonderful to read the original series again in a brand new format whilst struggling through AVOS. I’ve missed Firestar, Yellowfang, Cinderpelt- now that most of the original cast is dead, and Graystripe’s time is also nearing an end, it was nice to go back and see the characters I grew up with again. I didn’t mind the changes they made as well (Blackstar’s new warrior name had me second guessing my memory for a second).
The artstyles of Riess and Goetter have been such a perfect touch, their colour work and expressions added so much charm that I feel the series has been lacking. I especially loved their scenes with StarClan, such pretty colours!

I’m a slow reader, so I’m honestly surprised this book only took me 3 months to finish. I’d read but not finished the original fanfiction Manacled quite a few years ago, and whilst I saw a lot of the similarities between the characters from The-Books-That-Must-Not-Be-Named and Alchemised at first, SenLinYu has made this story truly their own. I really enjoyed my time with this story. I was expecting to find part 2 to be a hard read, as that is where I fell off from the fic, but I found myself so immersed in the new world of Paladia that I couldn’t put it down.

Still not enjoying this series. It’s just kind of ‘okay’. The writing is uninspiring and the plotline is easy to follow but does nothing new with the series. I find the three POV’s a little hard to follow and somewhat jarring.
